A Substantial Need for the Toroid Coil Winding Industry |

Toroids are all around us, the geometric shape that is. One of the most familiar toroids to all of us is the plain donut, its circular configuration similar to that of an inner tube. A hula-hoop, a hollow plastic wrist bracelet, a lifeguard’s flotation device, and the o-rings on the Space Shuttle could all be considered to be toroids. The annular geometric shape of a toroid is achieved by winding a circle around an axis that is external to the circle.
